Owen Coyle returning to Bolton
For a few hours it was the belief of Burnley fans that Owen Coyle the current Burnley football club manager and ex Bolton football player may stay where he is.
News soon filtered out of his desire to leave the club he so successfully brought to the Premiership this season for a club that looks to be embroiled in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table.
Whilst there are four places between them with Burnley and Bolton in 14th and 18th respectively the gap is only two points meaning a few wins for Bolton will lift them from the bottom three and maybe thrust them above the side that will have to find approxiamately £4million to take Owen Coyle up to Bolton.
Compensation would still need to be agreed should Coyle make his final decision to leave meaning Bolton’s transfer kitty could be choped in half. Coyle has done extremely well with a team that lacks investment and a kitty as big as Bolton’s may be what he needs as a platform to extend his already lively managerial career.
Burnley’s biggest problem will be trying to fill his shoes with someone experienced enough to boost Burnley once more as Coyle did at the beginning of the season with victory over Manchester United at Turf Moor. The fans will know that unless a suitable replacement is found quickly, and that he is of the quality Burnley expect, then relegation could be facing them too come the end of the season.
The best online bookmakers still have odds on Bolton at 7/2 to be relegated with Burnley, despite being in 14th position, 15/8 to be in the Championship next season.
