Nothing major thus far in January transfer window
Each January the Premiership football season sets aside a little time to either bulk up a team or reduce the squad numbers in what is known as the January transfer window. Football managers are normally asked by their respective boards as to what they may require to perhaps turn a sour season into a relatively successful one.
Depending on what funds are available and what the manager may require will result in players either joining or leaving the club. With the next few months paramount to most teams success or possible Premiership survival many managers will be rushing through scout reports and transfer lists hoping to work out what may be best for the club and possibly even for the managers career.
Certain decisions made in the January transfer window will result in a sacking in February or May as Boards try to get one last attempt to keep the team in their respective league although there currently has not been much business done.
Manchester City who usually spend very big when the opportuniy arises have only purchased ex Arsenal and Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Viera, and that is only on loan. Manchester United have resisted the urge to delve into the January market adding that they will only buy if the player and the money is right, as quite rightly, players require time to adjust to the vigours of the Premiership and January is not a good time to slip into your Premiership boots for the first time.
Arsenal have once again hired Sol Campbell. Whilst this remains a shock signing, it is undoubtedly a good one albeit not the sort of signing that really raises the transfer roof. Another good loan deal is that of Everton’s in loaning Donovan from the LA Galaxy Football team until the end of the season, who’s experience will most certainly show come the business end of the season.
With not much happening in the transfer market the best online bookmakers have not adjusted their odds that much and have stuck to their guns making Chelsea and Manchester United favourite and second favourite respectively.
