Fitting Exercise Into Your Working Week

December 15, 2009 Zen No Comments

One of the biggest challenges running presents is finding a way to fit it into your busy week. There are lots of things and people that should take precedence over your running regimen, from work to kids to socializing with friends. However, with a little planning, ingenuity and lateral thinking, you can find time for everything, including your running program.

Become and early riser

If you’re a full time parent, make the most of your early mornings. Lying in bed for an extra half hour may feel great at the time, but it doesn’t actually make much difference to how rested you are throughout the day. Try going to bed 30 minutes earlier than you would normally, so you can use that time for an early morning run. A morning run will make you feel positive and energized for the rest of the day.

Multi-tasking for extra time

Do you live within a reasonable distance from your workplace? If so, running to work in the morning might be an option. This is great way to get some exercise, energize yourself and clear your head before you start work. It also cuts down on your transportation costs and emissions. If you live too far from work to run, you could drive part of the way, park your can and then run the rest of the way.

Exercising at lunch time is probably the most popular type of work activity. A 30 minute run can ease tension of the day and leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the afternoons work load. Just be sure there is a shower in your building or join a nearby Gym.
