FA Cup magic in full swing

The FA Cup 3rd round went into overdrive on Saturday and Sunday with just the one big surprise coming at an unlikely venue in Manchester. The youngsters of Leeds who travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday may have expected the worst but these days, should a team play very well, and Manchester United fail to perform at all, an upset is always on the cards.

Leeds’ youngsters were something of a showcase yesterday watched by the majority of larger teams at the talent on display and many may have thought that Manchester United were playing in white yesterday such was the intensity of their play and energy. West Ham went close to beating Arsenal only for the North London club to break into 3rd gear late in the second half to overcome a positive looking West Ham although the East London Club will possibly see the early exit as a blessing in disguise as they look to move up the Premiership table.

Aston Villa beat an uninterested Blackburn to move into the fourth round and could be strong outsiders with no European committments and should some of the ties fall in their favour and be home games, they could be up to the semi final spots at least.

Manchester City are also through to the fourth round and will continue to field the strongest team possible for each game as they strive to lift some form of silverware this season. The midweek Carling Cup tie will be of the utmost importance for them who will see the Carling Cup as an easy piece of silver.

According to the best online bookmakers Chelsea remain FA Cup favourites at a half decent price of 4/1 in places but outsider bets are possibly the best with Arsenal or Aston Villa priced resonably well at 7/1 and 18/1 respectively.
