Arsenal must now go full steam ahead

January 25, 2010 Zen No Comments

It was predicted that Arsenal would lose to Stoke away on Sunday afternoon. The FA Cup may still be a classy trophy to have in the cabinet but compared to being Premiership Champions of 2009/2010 and it is nothing at all.

Arsenal, despite obviously wanting to do well in this competition are now out which leaves them in two competitions, the Premiership and Champions league. Either of the two could be winnable should they field only their best eleven for the remainder of the competitions which makes one believe that with Arsenals current squad only one or the other could be in a reasonable grasp.

Deep down, Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, will probably want to be crowned Champions of Europe but the Premiership is the real competition that top teams want to win each and every year. Arsenal will want the Premiership more as it will provide them with more bulk for the up and coming seasons ahead and would rather relish that title more.

Sure, if Arsenal were to win the Champions League they would be able to attract major players for little money, but that also comes to having a good domestic season too. The European competition is very difficult to win, and players wishing to be part of a team that can win trophies will look at their domestoc status before looking to whether they can also conquer in Europe.

The best online bookmakers still have Arsenal as third favourites for the title at odds of 3/1 whilst Chelsea remain the odds on favourites at 4/5.
