Pole Dancing Grip Powder For Greater Success

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

When it comes to pole dancing, grip is the most important strength feature which you cannot improve with practice. Think for a moment about the contact area between you and the pole. Each pole dancing position has contact between you and the pole on different surfaces of skin. Each of these contact areas must grip the pole in varying ways in order to continue through to the next pose. Pole dancing is a fluid dance which must be peformed in continuous movement with differing degrees of difficulty. Improving your grip of the pole on all skin surfaces can be accomplished with grip powders. A really good grip powder is made using thermoplastics which react to body heat and provide improved grip and inhibits sweat and chaffing. Thermoplastic grip powders lasts for hours and easily washes off with soap and water.

The following are some popular pole dancing moves with instruction as to where the body’s grip is applied. For best use of the grip powder it may be wise to use it on areas that are used to contact the pole such as legs, arms, feet, and hands. This will surely help when moving from one dance move to another.

Batman pose – In the upside down flat pose position, grip tighter with legs and release your hands. Hang for a moment from your legs, then slide down the pole pole with an arched back in a curved position. The grip powder will allow you to both grip and then slide without catching.

Climb and splits – Climbing pole, stopping there to secure grip by straightening & tightening legs before sliding down into jazz splits. Once again it’s all about the grip plus slide.

Swan – To get momentum walk round pole, inside arm really high & firmly gripped onto the pole, step on outside leg & bring inside leg in front of pole & hook knee to pole, then complete one-handed forward spin. Twisting around the pole requires the grip and slip technique as well.

Showgirl – Climb pole, both legs wrapped around it, with the dominant arm in a stabilizing position while extending other arm gracefully. Then detach one leg from pole-grip in similar extension and slide down in this one leg/one arm pose. This move requires both grip strength and fluidity of movement.

Hip Spin – First, grab pole firmly with outside arm high & inside arm low, pull with upper & push with lower hands together while kicking off floor with legs, bending them around pole in cocoon-spinning position, with your tummy flat against the pole. Grip chalk can also be applied to the bare midriff in order to gain a little more leverage.

Vampire – Climb pole & adopt sitting position with crossed legs, then grip pole between thighs before letting go with hands & leaning backwards to hang in that position. Trusting your grip strength with this pose can be daunting without a little added help from the grip powder.

Two-handed coil – Start with the secondary side closest to pole, grip with both hands & kick legs forward, then while swinging back, coil body round pole to spin. This move requires a lot of hand grip strength to hold your body in place, then enough slide in order to spin around the pole.

As you can see, a good grip on many parts of your body will help with the necessary pole dancing positions required for fun or competition. It is necessary in pole dancing to gain grip strength while practicing in order to begin to trust yourself and move on to the next position. Without a good grip powder, the practice time will be greater and you may hurt yourself in the process. Preventing anything negative in the process of getting stronger and more in shape will surely lead to a lifetime of fun and good health.

Thomas – A Legend in Golf History

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

“Thomas has High energy,” said Heaney, who worked with Thomas for 24 years. “The guy burned through a lot of Diet Coke. It kept him going.”
Some of Heaney’s favorite memories about Thomas’ dedication are from watching him work the State Amateur when it was held at Pebble Beach. The weather sometimes turned nasty in June.

“And Bob’s out there running around with his camera. It was like a bad scene from ‘Caddyshack,’ ” Heaney said. “Bob’s going crazy, trying to stand still in the wind to get a shot. It was classic Bob.”

Through the years, FORE Magazine has been dedicated to covering the top-level amateur events in the state, and Thomas attended nearly all of them in his 25 years. It was easy when there wasn’t an Internet and people dutifully waited for the magazine to come out. In recent years, fans and families of players have wanted instantaneous results, and the SCGA was one of the first organizations in the United States to offer live scoring.

Thomas remembers first going live at the 1996 U.S. Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge, won by Tiger Woods. There were more than 50 Californians in the field, and Thomas went to elaborate lengths to update each player’s card, hole by hole, on the Web.

“Two of the longest days of my life,” Thomas said.

Of course, this was the same guy who years ago brought, every day from home, the first computer into the SCGA’s Studio City offices.

“It was supposed to be portable,” Thomas said, “but it weighed 25 pounds.”

Thomas has seen an amazing array of talented players and quirky characters compete in SCGA events. Some of his favorites: Craig Steinberg, Scott McGihon, Pat Duncan, Mark Johnson, Ed Cuff, Jason Gore, Kemp Richardson and Todd Demsey.

There also was the guy who drank beer during events and teed his ball up on a beer can.
“Hard to believe, but I watched him do it,” Thomas said.
Not surprisingly, Woods stands out, too.

In 1994, Woods was a national star, and he jointly entered for the only time the SCGA Amateur and State Amateur. “Tiger was well beyond us at that point, but he took the time to play,” Thomas said. “I never asked him, but I think it was his way of saying thanks for us being there when he was a kid. That is the most special memory for me.”

Woods fired a 62 in one round of the SCGA Amateur at Hacienda Country Club and won handily. In the State Am, he reached the semifinals, but was upset by Cuff, the San Diegan who went on to win.

Thomas has seen the ups and the downs of the golf industry. He believes it takes too long to play a round, that courses have been made too long, too difficult and unwalkable. The prevalence of golf carts is a blessing and a curse, he said.

His gravest concern? “Water will be the biggest single issue over the next 20 years,” Thomas said.

Thomas will keep his hand in some golf marketing, and he’ll now have more time to enjoy his other interests – classical music, church activities and public transportation.

Maybe he’ll get more time to enjoy himself on the golf course, made freer with no camera over his shoulder. He can pick some sunny days to play.

“Golfers are unique,” Thomas said. “The overwhelming majority of them are solid, wonderful people. That’s been the greatest thing working for the SCGA, the people I’ve met.”

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

The 2009 Heisman has finally been awarded. Those in the running for this prestigous college football award included Tony Gerhart, Mark Ingram, Ndamukong South, Kellen Moore, and Colt McCoy. In the end only one could come out victorious and that winner was the running back Mark Ingram from the University of Alabama. Ingram beat out Stanford running back Toby Gerhart by only 28 points. This is the closest finish for the Heisman Memorial Trophy in the 75 year history of the award.

Leading up to his Heisman 2009 win, Mark ingram has rushed 249 times for 1,542 yard with 15 touchdowns this past season. He also caught 30 passes for 322 yards and gaining an additional 3 touchdowns.  Along the way he set the single season rushing record at the University of Alabama and also led them to an undeafeated regular season with number one national ranking. These are some very impressive stats and we can expect to see more of this next year.

Before the winner of the 2009 Heisman was announced, ESPN had Toby Gerhart listed as the number one prospect to win the Heisman. They stated that “Bottom Line: Gerhart has the best stats and played the most consistent football of any of the Heisman contenders.” I’m sure they weren’t the only ones surprised then when Mark Ingram was the one who won the Heisman.

Footballer Profile – Robin Van Persie

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

Following in the footsteps of Dennis Bergkamp as Arsenal’s Dutch striker is an unenviable task. But, at the moment, Robin van Persie is making a good job of it.

It didn’t always look like that, though. There has never been any question of the young Dutchman’s ability but, for a time, it looked as if a succession of niggling injuries and what appeared to be a distinctly questionable attitude might lead to him never really fulfilling his potential. Most people, when thinking about the Van Persie of that era, will remember the Daily Telegraph’s description of him as being ‘twenty one going on nine’!

And when Arsene Wenger remained insistent that he wasn’t going to replace the departed Adebayor with another striker, many people questioned the great man’s judgement. Robin van Persie, though, has revelled in the extra responsibility and is arguably playing the very best football of his career.

Robin van Persie had already been a member of the Feyenoord team that had won the UEFA Cup in 2002 by the time he joined Arsenal but his time at his home town club had not always been as successful. Frequent disciplinary problems and disagreements with manager Bert van Marwijk earned him a reputation as being ‘difficult’ to manage. His 15 goals in 59 first team matches, though, and his clearly apparent talent, attracted interest from Arsenal and although the negotiations seemed to stretch on for months, eventually he signed for the Gunners for a fee of around £2.75 million – a figure which, yet again, shows Arsene Wenger’s incredible eye for a bargain.

Wenger made it clear quite early that he envisaged his young Dutch player, who at that time was considered to be more of a winger, eventually moving to a more central role – similar to the transformation that Thierry Henry had previously undergone. So successful has this transition been that the manager of the Dutch national team – for whom Robin has made 40 appearances – announced that he would be performing the same job for them. Ironically, the manager making this promise is the same Bert van Marwijk who had had such difficulties with the younger van Persie.

During his time at Arsenal, Robin van Persie has developed into a mobile, intelligent striker and, most impressively, he has also become a much more focussed team player. Indeed, last season he was at the top of the statistics with ‘goal assists’ in the Premier League. His skill on the ball and eye for a pass to colleagues are now simply outstanding. A recent first time lay off into the path of Cesc Fàbregas, with whom he has built an almost telepathic understanding, in the away match against Wolves was symptomatic of Arsenal at their best.

Away fans might still suspect van Persie of tumbling rather theatrically in the penalty area under rather minimal contact, and it remains to be seen whether he has finally both his injury problems and his temper. But, with 46 goals for the Emirates’ team already, in just 126 matches, and with every prospect of Arsenal really challenging for all the major honours this season, comparisons with the great Dennis Bergkamp are no longer in the slightest bit fanciful.

Robin van Persie has become a very, very good player indeed – and , unlike the illustrious Bergkamp, he doesn’t mind flying to away games.

Hockey’s Best Players

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

HOCKEY had been one of the sports that everyone has looked after. The excitement, fun, and thrill of this game really encourages sports enthusiast to watch every event. However, does anyone know who are NHL’s best hockey players of all time, excluding goalkeepers which we think plays a very different role compared to a forward or a defenseman, and how they are known for this sport?

Maybe we will have a good start with the most popular player in the history of hockey. The Richard Riot, which was formed when Clarence Campbell suspended him in 1955, was the revolt by his fans in support of him. Maurice Richard was so unstoppable and set a very impressive record of being the first player to score 50 goals in a single season, within 50 games. He is also the first player to score 500 goals in his hockey life, finishing with 544, which is the most ever by a Habs player.

Taking the fourth place is Mario Lemieux. Talking about athletic ability, I can say that he is one of the best. An effortless and pure skill set, and the ability to dominate his peers is what Mario was known for. He has a record of scoring 690 goals and 1,723 points. Note that he had suffered from chronic back problems and has been battling with cancer during those days. In addition, despite the time he spent away from the game, he still managed to set that record, what more if he is not sick right? Included in the awards he has received was the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in two Stanley Cups. He also won 6 Art Ross Trophies, Hart Trophies, and the Calder Trophy, within 915 seasons.

When you say “Power Forward”, Gordie Hockey could never be left out. Rocking on the third place, he was an all time legend. With the record of 801 goals, 1049 assists, and a total of 1850 point, Gordie has been able to play in 1767 games in NHL alone, and has won six Art Ross Trophies and six Hart Trophies. At the age of 52, when he played with his sons Mark and Marty of the Hartford Whalers, he still managed to score 18 goals in the 1979-80 season.

Our first runner up would be no other than Bobby Orr, well actually, he would have been the world’s greatest hockey player if not for his chronically bad knees which has cut his very brilliant career. He was a record holder of 139 points by a defenseman, led the NHL in scoring two separate occasions still as a defenseman, and won eight consecutive Norris Trophies and three Hart Trophies. He even helped the Bruins in two Stanley Cups in year 1970.

Maybe everyone is curious who is at our number one spot. Well, it would be no other than Wayne Gretzky. With an outstanding record of 894 goals, 1963 assists and a total of 2857 points, this man really shattered the record book. He has been a leader in all major offensive categories whether a regular season or the playoffs. Blessed with an extraordinary vision on ice, he was one rare athlete who has the ability to make his team mates play better. No wonder he was called as “The Great One”.

Chelsea Football

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

Chelsea Soccer Club, affectionately nicknamed “The Blues” are a professional football club in Britain . The Chelsea home shirts are blue and many fans purchase a Chelsea shirt as they are definitely a much loved football club.

Chelsea’s home ground is Stamford Bridge in Fulham, West London. They have played there since the team was set up in 1905. On a little pedantic note of geographical accuracy, Chelsea aren’t basically based in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, rather in Hammersmith and Fulham. Chelsea FC was set up in March 1905 in the Rising Sun boozer opposite Stamford Bridge. They occupied Stamford Bridge at once later, taking over the site from the London Athletics Club which had utilized the facility for the previous twenty-eight years.

The Chelsea Shirt for home games has long been blue, though it wasn’t always the same dark shade it is today. In 1912, royal blue shirts were introduced. The now familiar blue shorts were added by Tommy Docherty in the 1960s. White socks were also added at this time as it was firmly believed that this suggestion, not in use by any other club made Chelsea more specific. In the 1980s a unusual mint green kit was sported by the Chelsea players. The 1990s saw the Chelsea shirt for away games at its most specific with red and white checks, and a gray and tangerine color scheme all being attempted.

Giant numbers of sponsors have graced the front of the Chelsea shirt over time. These have included Gulf Air, Coors and most recently Samsung.

The club crest attached to the Chelsea shirt has gone thru 4 major iterations in the history of the club. This gave rise to the club’s nickname of “The Pensioners”. This crest was in use for 50 years when the design was modified as an element of a modernization program going on at the club. A non permanent solution was to use the C.F.C initials for a year till in 1953 when the new crest of a blue lion locking backwards and holding a staff was introduced. This crest took it’s inspiration from the coat of arms of the Borough Of Chelsea.

The crest also featured two footballs and 3 red roses. Another wave of modernisation in 1986 saw the heraldic lion replaced by a more pragmatic looking lion in yellow standing over the C.F.C initials. The final big design change came in 2004 where the old design was reinstated for the coming centenary. This design has made an appearance on the shirts in different color schemes. Like white and gold.

Russian multi-millionaire Roman Abramovich purchased Chelsea football club in June 2003 from Ken Bates. The reported quantity of the purchase was 140 million pounds which was at the time the most costly sale in English soccer history. The club’s coach at that point, Italian Claudion Raniers, who took Chelsea to the 2002 FA Cup last and Champions League qualification was at first kept but was later sacked for being totally unable to get titles for the team.

Successful coach Jose Mourinho from Portugal then took over as Chelsea’s new guide.

No matter how unsuccessful the team has been during the past, Chelsea has always enjoyed the faithful support of local fans, but the up to date success of the team means today Chelsea is an internationally recognized soccer team and a major business with many sides.

The Chelsea FC online megastore now ships Chelsea-related soccer attire, leisurewear, souvenirs, books and videos around the planet.

Outdoor Recreation in a Recession

December 13, 2009 Zen No Comments

Times are tough. I know it… you know it… everyone knows it. Many people are no longer able or wanting to spend the big bucks that some outdoor sports require. Boating for example can be a very expensive outdoor recreational activity. Gas prices have sky-rocketed and storage fees are high. Fun and carefree days out on the motorboat are no longer a stress-free activity.

Outdoor recreation should not only be enjoyed by everyone but it should also cost very little if any money as well as be completely stress and worry free. There are enough things to be concerned with without having to worry about not being able to enjoy the great outdoors with our family and friends.

Luckily there are several fantastic activities that cost very little money, if any at all. The outdoor recreation activities below can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

All of the above activities are freebies… meaning you don’t need to spend money to be able to enjoy them. One of my personal favorite all time outdoor activities happens to be kayaking. It can cost money to purchase a kayak of course or even to rent a kayak. If you are used to boating though I guarantee you the costs are minimal compared to running a gas-guzzling motorboat.

Kayaks are self-powered and eco-friendly. They do no harm to the environment and allow for some excellent exercise. I love the inflatable kayaks as they can be easily transported and taken anywhere.

In my opinion the days of big gas powered boats are numbered. The costs to run them are simply too high and the destruction they are doing to our waters and our shorelines are practically irreparable. Kayaking is the perfect outdoor activity while in a recession. The kayak business is booming and it is not necessary to spend a bundle. There are several great quality inflatable kayaks that can be purchased for a decent price and enjoyed by the whole family.

The point is that just because money is tight, do not allow it to keep you from enjoying the outdoors. We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful world to live in and getting out for a huge gulp of fresh air doesn’t cost a cent.
